Role of English language in introducing elitism and socioeconomic inequalities

ABSTRACT: This research studied how language varieties differentiate between groups separated by social
variables i.e. ethnicity, religion, status, gender, education, and age etc. The language usage varies
among different social classes; these sociolects are studied under the field of sociolinguistics.
Elitism is a belief that is shaped by the individuals of higher social class. Socio-economic
inequality is described on the basis of unequal distribution of resources, income and wealth, power,
