ABSTRACT: This study investigates the incorrect pronunciation of silent letters in English language made by
the students whose first language is Urdu. In other words to find the problematic sounds and the
factors that cause these problems. Then find some techniques that help the students to improve
their pronunciation. The subjects for the study were 20 students from Kinnaird College. The
instruments used for collecting the data were recordings. The data collected were analyzed both
statistically and descriptively. The findings of the study revealed that the students whose native
language is Urdu, mispronounced the words with silent letters in English language e.g. subtle and……….
